Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Arrives, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the far corners of the universe. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Classic Games

In the vein of the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands

The movie will welcome back of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

Mario's Major Moment

The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut around the time of the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.

Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases publicly declared for that year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
